photos ornamented with flowers - part 8.

After some palimpsests in this series and not with flowers and other plants, now finally comes one part with flowers, but also with a bird feather and a skin of a snake, but of course, I didn't kill a snake!!! I found this skin yesterday on my cottage. It's the old skin of a snake, after Moulting. The skin is really thin, therefore it's just broke in three pieces.
Once more I've used a self portrait of my wonderful girlfriend for this part.

the samba palimpsests.

Today I printed two statues pictures, which I shot in early 2010, on sheet musics of two sambas:
_ "Vai doer" ("It will hurt") by Nazareno & Marcelo Duran
_ "Marcha da Quarta-Feira de Cinzas" ("March of Ash Wednesday") by Vinicius de Moraes & Carlos Lyra

photos ornamented with flowers - part 7.

Once more two palimpsests and not real flower works. I think the next part will be once more with real plants, but this time just with book pages with drawings of Heilpflanzen (Medicinal plants), out of the book "Gesundheit aus der Apotheke Gottes" ("Health through God's Pharmacy") - 36th edition from 1988 by Maria Treben. Her knowledge and the healing effects are very controversial! But the drawings are very good to use for a palimpsest.

photos ornamented with flowers - part 6.

As in part 5, part 6 is also without real flowers, but with pages from a book. But this time just snippets with drawings of plants out of the Schmeil-Fitschen.
The Schmeil-Fitschen, with full name "Flora von Deutschland und seinen angrenzenden Gebieten. Ein Buch zum Bestimmen der wildwachsenden und häufig kultivierten Gefäßpflanzen", is well known among the landscape architecture and horticulture students in Germany, because they use it to determine plants.
As I studied landscape architecture at the University of Hannover, I also used a modern edition of the Schmeil-Fitschen, but for these palimpsests I've used snippets out of the 86th edition of the Schmeil-Fitschen from my father, who used it in his study time.
First I cut out the snippets with drawings, then I sticked them on a DIN A4 paper and as last I printed self portraits from my girlfriend on it.

My camerabag @ Japan Camera Hunter

YEAH, Japan Camera Hunter shows my camerabag!!! It's the bag 1023 and you can see it here!!!

A lovely bright colorful bag today. Check it out.
In your bag 1023, Fabio Schmidt
From a totally black and white bag, to a very colourful bag. Fabio shares with us this lovely bright bag from Brazil. Check it out.

Hello Japan Camera Hunter!!!

Here is my bag:
My bag and the content are very simple, low cost and old school. It’s not the hipster stuff, but worked really good. I love to shoot film, especially with my favorite camera the Praktica LTL3, which is really my workhorse and survived longer than my Leica R4. I tried a lot of lenses, but I prefer the Helios 44M-4 and the Revuenon Special 2.8/135mm lenses, because of their simplicity and performance. I use this set up to shoot persons in urban locations and in the landscape. It’s very light and therefore I’m very agile at photographing.

The stuff:
_ Lali Camera Bag by FABRIC.X
_ Praktica LTL3 in the “Sun Fire Style” by FABRIC.X
_ Helios 44M-4 2/58mm
_ Revuenon Special 2.8/135mm
_ three expired Kodak Ultramax 400 films
_ a little “camera” bag by Com Lola (with paper and business cards inside)
_ Rotring Visupoint F pen

Thanks for sharing your bag with us Fabio. Not often we see a Praktica on here.
I like the comments:

Today I brought my works of the WIRRWARR 13 series in the 20x30cm wooden frames to the UFSC.
The exhibition will be at three places of the campus, among others at the library. But I still don't know where my works will hang exactly. For more info take a look at the Ufsctock 2014 page.

The Märchen Palimpsests

I have been heavily influenced by Märchen (fairy tales), especially of the German Märchen by the Brüder Grimm and other German folklore.
Therefore the palimpsests today are a homage to my childhood and this influence.
First I made two collages with stamps. The first collage exists of 20 stamps with the same motive, the Schloss Glücksburg in Germany. The second collage shows some different stamps from Germany, East Germany, Greece, Guine, Portugal and Spain.
I printed on the first collage a b&w self portrait of my girlfriend and on the second collage a b&w self portrait of mine.
Yes, the palimpsests should tell a classic fairy tale with a princess in the castle and the knight who conquers her...*smile* Well, I know this story is very very old school, but in our first fairy tale artwork "O cordel da chupacabra" the rolls were distributed differently.

photos ornamented with flowers - part 5.

Today a different version of photos ornamented with flowers, in fact without flowers, but with a page from the early 20th century German book "Der Arzt im Hause - Moderne Heilmethoden, Band II" ("The home doctor - Modern methods of healing, Volume II"), published by Dr. med. M. Rann.
The palimpsest consists of a nude self portrait and not like the other works before with portraits of my girlfriend and is printed on a book page, which shows drawings of Heilpflanzen (Medicinal plants).

Also I printed another self portrait on another page of the same book, but without flowers, but an eye with icterus, urolithiasis and gallstones.
